They have both a physical and psychological effect on your body so that you think and feel an energy boost rush in your body.

There are a number of boosting effects of energy drinks and they include considerable improvements in cognitive and mental functions as well as greater alertness. Energy drinks can be taken as an added energy booster for performing a taxing activity. Certain energy drinks can help boost endurance especially in athletes. Performance boost due to energy drinks can be attributed to the caffeine intake which gives a sense of alertness which can then translate to improved performance. Taken in moderation, energy drinks are not in themselves harmful to your health though constant intake is not good for you.

Some of the negative effects of energy drinks include caffeine withdrawal symptoms such as effects on mood and performance. Some studies have indicated that some of the negative effects of energy drinks include increased irritability, anxiety, insomnia and agitation. These negative effects are as a result of the sudden caffeine withdrawal which can cause nervousness, irritability, abnormal heart palpitations, stomachache, increased urination and dehydration. All these adverse effects will cause you to be unable to perform your daily tasks well.

The key with energy drinks is for them to be taken moderately and not to be consumed as an everyday drink. Too much of any energy drink will be harmful to your health and will cause an imbalance to occur in your body. Certain energy drinks can be taken on the one off occasion where you need a quick- fix energy boost in order to carry out your assigned task optimally.
